COVID-19 Update - February 2021

Your safety and well-being is of the utmost importance to us at BMW Rider Training. Rest assured, we are closely monitoring the situation with COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and taking precautionary measures in line with the UK Government advice to make sure our students and staff are safe.

Easing of National Lockdown Measures from 8th March

As we are sure you are aware, the UK Government has announced a 4-stage plan for the lifting of the current national lockdown restrictions, the first wave of changes commencing 8th March 2021.

The motorcycle training industry is governed by the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) who conduct all tests. They have now confirmed that all training and testing (Theory & Practical) will remain suspended until ‘stage two’ is introduced later this spring.

As such, our Training Centres across the country will remain closed for the immediate short term. Our Customer Service teams will continue to work remotely - we remain fully contactable by telephone on 08000 131 282, via our message box here, or by email at, (Mon-Fri, 09:00 to 17:30)

When will training resume?

As per the announcement by the UK Government, they hope to implement ‘stage two’ from Monday 12th April, and the DVSA has confirmed they plan to recommence vehicle testing from the same date. Please be aware that this date is not set in stone and is subject to review by the UK Government over the coming weeks.

We appreciate that many riders will travel some distance to our specialist training centres, and while self-contained accommodation will be available from April 12th, we understand this may not be suitable for everyone. Traditional hotels and B&B providers are planned to reopen from ‘stage three’, approximately 17th May, and we’ll soon be opening bookings for these dates.

I have a course booked, what happens now?

If you have an open booking with us, please keep an eye out for our update emails over the coming days, we have already begun reaching out to everyone affected.

Here’s what you need to know about the next steps:

  • All bookings up to 12th April will be put on hold automatically
  • You will receive priority access to new dates, as soon as they are available.
  • Of course, if you would prefer to cancel, we would be happy to provide a credit note for rebooking at your convenience or a refund in full - whichever is best for you.
  • Rest assured, all future bookings’ funds are retained in a secure “client” account, so you can trust your course booking funds are protected in these uncertain times.

We understand that you will likely receive many COVID-19 update emails over the next few days. If you have a booking but have not yet heard from us, please do be sure to check your junk/spam folder. Of course, if you still don't have a notification, please get in touch here - we'd love to hear from you.

We appreciate your patience during this difficult and frustrating time, but we look forward to riding with you again very soon!

Kind regards,

Ian & the BMW Rider Training team
