One-to-One CBT Enhanced Course

This is where your riding journey begins!

A true taster of what motorcycling is all about, our two-day CBT Enhanced Course will give you all the basic riding skills you need, as well as additional tuition and support to ensure that you can head out onto the roads confidently and safely.

Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) is the start of any motorcycle training course. You can choose to do it on a standalone basis or it can be the first part of a Direct Access (DAS) Elements Course.

This CBT Enhanced course offered by BMW Rider Training has been specially developed by our team of expert instructors to enable all new riders to head out on the roads safely and confidently. With more tuition, more techniques taught, and more road-riding time than most other courses available, this course is the best first step on the road to gaining your full motorcycle license.

What's included?

Designed to be all-inclusive, this course includes everything you need to get started, all protective clothing from the BMW Rider Equipment range, 2 full days of focused tuition, as well as the use of our BMW G 310 R/GS bikes. All bikes are the latest model and less than 12 months old. Click here to find our more about our fleet of BMW motorcycles used on our courses.

Who will I train with?

Unlike many other training schools, you will never be more than 2 students to an instructor at any time when training with BMW Rider Training. All customers are attended to as individuals throughout the training, to make sure you're getting the most out of each session.

What is the course schedule like?

  • The course is set over 2 consecutive days to maximise your learning time.
  • Training commences at 8.30am and finishes at 4.00pm every day.
  • There is a break for lunch, as well as short rest breaks interspersed throughout the day.

The daily schedule is not fixed as we continually adjust this to meet the needs of each student, however the following gives an indication of what to expect from each day.

  • Day 1 - An introduction to motorcycling, starting on our unique Rolling Road.
Here you'll learn the key skills of throttle and clutch control whilst feeling the freedom and balance of riding a motorcycle, without the risk of falling. Once you're confident, we'll move on to our private training area using the BMW G 310 R/GS
  • Day 2 - Continuing on from day 1, then venturing on to the road to combine theory and real life practice. We'll spend as much time as we can riding, exploring, putting your new skills to use and growing familiar with riding on the road.

At the end of the day, if you and your instructor feel you're ready for it, riders will be invited to try a larger BMW motorcycle - like the novice-friendly BMW F 750 GS - on our private training area to experience the feeling of riding a larger bike.

After two exciting days riding, simply ask your Instructor for more details about the next steps for your training. Whether you opt for an intensive 5 or 6 Day Direct Access course, or our progressive Elements path for busy lifestyles, we can make your riding dreams a reality.

Please note that a CBT holder is restricted to a motorcycle up to 125cc on the road with L-Plates. The holder is also restricted from riding on motorways and may not carry a pillion. You need to demonstrate that you can safely handle a motorcycle on the road and once you have reached the required standard you Instructor will issue a CBT Certificate (DL196).
