The Rookie to Rider scheme is open to riders over the age of 19.
You'll need a minimum of a UK Provisional Driving Licence. If you hold a full UK Driving Licence for a car or HGV, there is no need for an additional provisional version.
You’ll need to pass the Motorcycle-specific Theory Test and provide the certificate number to us when booking your course, so we can book your practical tests. You can find your nearest test centre, see their availability, and book the test online (£23) on the GOV.UK website here.
Please note: if you have a valid Car/HGV Theory test, sadly this is not transferrable, and you must sit the Motorcycle specific test.
Our 5, 6 and 7 day intensive Direct Access courses are part of the scheme. This is inclusive of all protective clothing during the training, bike hire, insurance, fuel, dedicated 2:1 tuition, CBT certificate (6 & 7-day options only), DVSA Module One & Module Two test fees.
You can see the full breakdown of this course, including example course dates here.
Our 5- and 6-day course options are a great place to start if you already have some previous riding experience.
Rest assured, we won't focus on elements you're already confident with - instead we'll use the extra practice time to prepare you for your tests, and refine your skills to ensure you have the best opportunity to gain your full licence.
The courses included with the R2R scheme as standard are not pass-guaranteed courses. However, it does have an extremely high first-time pass rate, thanks to our training ethos where everything is tailored to each student and our diligent focus on honing and improving the course over the past 20 years.
Nervous test-taker?
If you've struggled with pre-test anxiety before, then our Guaranteed Pass upgrade is a perfect safety net for you.
You'll attend the 7-day intensive course dates as initially chosen, but this one-off £500 fixed fee entitles you to as many additional training days and test retakes beyond this, as you need to achieve your chosen licence grade*. You can book with confidence, safe in the knowledge that there will be no further 'hidden costs', even if nerves get in the way of a first-time pass.
We have four locations across the UK, and it is entirely your choice, as to which of the BMW Rider Training Centres you'll train at. You can see the full details of each Training Centre here.
